Weather Closing &
Cancellation Information

At the discretion of the Director, the Library may close early, delay opening time, or be closed all day when weather conditions warrant. If you are in doubt, please call ahead (401-710-7800) or check online here or on Facebook.

Whenever the library closes early, fines are suspended for materials which were due but could not be returned on that day. All materials due on the day of closing then become due on the next open day.

Children's Programs Cancellations —

All children’s programs will be cancelled if classes in the Burrillville Public Schools are cancelled, even if the library elects to remain open.

Local Authors Night at the Library

Come enjoy light refreshments while you get to know some of our local authors. Their writings include many genres: mystery, inspirational, historic fiction, historic fact, children's books, nature, romance, and much more. Signed copies of the books will be for sale, and you might just find the perfect book for your favorite booklover!

Library Crafting Makerspace

Join us in our Crafting Makerspace on Friday, December 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 15th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. when we will be creating holiday cards and a snowman decoration! These free projects are very easy and perfect for beginners. All materials provided. Register at the Reference Desk.

CRAFTERS, PLEASE NOTE: Soon our Crafting Makerspace will be open regularly and you and your friends will able to stop in and use our crafting tools and supplies to create— anything you can imagine!


The Burrillville Prevention Action Coalition is a volunteer, working task force comprised of individuals who are interested in substance abuse prevention issues in the Burrillville communities.

Current Task Force members include school, prevention and treatment professionals, youth, parents, law enforcement, faith community, health care, youth organizations, business owners, media and local government. All members live and work in the Burrillville area.

Burrillville Animal Shelter

The Burrillville Animal Shelter could use your help. If you can't adopt a shelter pet, you can help make the days happier for the animals at the shelter who are patiently waiting to find their forever homes. Donations for the shelter can be dropped off at the JMS Library. There is a list of most needed items posted in the Library, and cash donations are always welcome to help with veterinary care for the animals.

December 2015 Fundraiser

The Burrillville Animal Shelter is raising funds to help cover veterinary fees. They are selling "Adopt Your Soulmate" teeshirts, hoodies, vnecks, and tanks. To purchase, go to the Fundraiser Page.

Fundraiser ends December 3rd, with delivery in time for the holidays!
